About Dog Studio Grooming

Hi I'm Kelsey Ann!

I’m a Nationally Certified Master Groomer with over 20 years of experience. I’ve worked in corporate salons, rescues, vet clinics, fancy show spaces, and even a few smelly, sketchy ones. I fell in love with grooming fresh out of school, thanks to my Bichon-Poodle mix JB and my Shih-Tzu Kali (may they rest in peace). Along the way, I realized I wanted to offer more than just haircuts. I wanted to create honest, relationship-driven services that honor the bond we share with our pets

How I started this business

After years of being overworked in other salons — and becoming a mom of two — I knew I needed a change. In late 2016, I opened a legal home-based salon in my basement. I nearly failed in the beginning, but those early struggles taught me how to build a sustainable business from the ground up.

I started going to grooming expos and fell in love with continuing education. I networked, leveled up my skills, studied the best techniques and products — and eventually became a Master Groomer. My journey was even featured in Groomer to Groomer magazine in 2019. That same passion for education inspired me to host my own events, which eventually led to the birth of The Dog Studio.

The Dog Studio Mission

When I opened in 2020, I dreamed of creating a space where groomers could fall in love with this career the way I did. I wanted to bridge the gap between pet parents and their dogs’ needs and remind groomers that kindness, honesty, safety, knowledge, and boundaries are what truly make us great pet care providers.

Bridging the Gap with Love

In 2021, Barkleigh (our industry’s education leader) invited me to speak at grooming expos. Since then, I’ve traveled the world, shared my knowledge, worked with brands and corporations, and earned multiple awards.

But my favorite place to be? Right here in Cheatham County — with my boys, my mini Poodle Dani, and the pets I’ve come to love. Some of these dogs have become true heart bonds. I’ve laughed with them, loved them, and in some cases, grieved them. I never take it lightly when a pet trusts me or gets excited to see me again. That’s the kind of grooming relationship I want every pet (and every groomer) to experience.

Why I Specialize in Routine Grooming

With consistency, grooming doesn’t have to be scary or stressful. It can be a happy, healthy rhythm of life. That’s why I focus on routine services, to build trust, reduce anxiety, and keep pets feeling their best.

Whether I’m grooming, teaching, or mentoring, my mission is always the same: to bridge the gap between uncertainty and compassionate, educated care.
